Why keratin makes sense in this climate
Al Aqah sits between the Hajar Mountains and the sea. Humidity, salt water and strong sun are a difficult combination for hair — frizz returns within minutes of leaving the room, and colour-treated hair dries out fast.
Keratin coats and fills the hair shaft, sealing the cuticle. The result is hair that stays smooth in humidity, survives salt water far better, and needs a fraction of the blow-drying time.

It is not a chemical straightener. Curls are loosened and smoothed, not erased. If you want to keep your natural texture and simply lose the frizz, say so — we can adjust how far the treatment is taken.
How the appointment runs
- Consultation. We look at length, thickness, condition and colour history, and confirm the price before we start.
- Clarifying wash. Product build-up is stripped so the keratin can bond.
- Application. The treatment is worked through section by section.
- Sealing. Blow-dry, then flat-ironed at the correct temperature to lock the keratin in.
Allow two to four hours depending on your hair. Long, thick hair takes the full time.
How long it lasts
Typically three to five months. It fades gradually rather than growing out with a hard line, so there is no awkward stage. How long you get depends mostly on how often you wash and what you wash with.
Aftercare
- Use a sulphate-free shampoo. Sulphates strip keratin faster than anything else.
- Rinse hair with fresh water after swimming in the sea or the pool.
- Wash less often — every two to three days is plenty.
- Wait about two weeks before any colour service.
